Kay Kay and his Weathered Underground

Just in case you haven’t heard, or might have been living under a rock for a fortnight or so, (It happens.)  Kay Kay and his Weathered underground have released their most anticipated freshman album release along with a bonus live DVD!  All because they love you so very much, and this whole package costs less then a night out to the pictures with you best gal.  Shoot over to Bombs Over Bellevue and pick up a copy of your own, or you could come out to the ‘Crocodile Cafe’ on April 18th for a live performance.

Respect.

I Declare War

We finished up the tracking of Compton Records signed artists I Declare War yesterday, it was a lot of fun.  In the process we started making some totally brutal metal. These guys are crazy awesome, we tracked 11 songs in 1 1/2 days! It was ridiculous.

Right now Evan one of the guitarists for the band is editing drums and they will be overdubbing everything in their home studio, then bringing it back to the tank in a couple weeks, where we will be mixing the full length album. It’s going to be exciting to hear it when it’s all done. Be on the lookout for it, we’ll make sure you know when it’s finished.

Changes to the Site

You will notice a different look and feel to the layout of The Tank’s web presence, more upgrades and enhancements are soon to come however everything you see will be functional. If you have any issues viewing the site, please contact the webmaster Chris and the issue will be resolved promptly.

As most of you know by now we suffered a great loss here at The Tank.  Tom is no longer with us and we’re left with a mission to carry on as he would’ve wanted us to.

The Tank opened it’s doors 6 years ago this October.  Over the course of those 6 years there have been many amazing records that have come through our doors.  Not to mention the countless stories, adventures and amazing feasts enjoyed by all.

Our mission now is simple… we carry on and we carry on with enough volume and force for Tom to hear us wherever he is.  We are going to continue making great records here and we are going to continue sharing amazing experiences with one another and the Pfaeffle family.  It’s up to us to give the story of The Tank a new chapter.  One that would make Tom proud.

Whether you’re a band who has done records here or a producer who used our studio for your own projects or an artist who never had the chance to work here, we can’t express enough how much we want you to bring your projects here.  With every project that comes out we get a little taste of Tom back in our lives.

If you’d like to book time this summer please contact Tim Dulany (tim@pinkonvinyl.com).  Tim has been with The Tank since it was nothing more than a pile of wood and dirt and has spent hundreds of hours working with Tom in all types of settings.  He will be helping manage things at the studio while we make our plans for the future.

Thank you all for your unending support while we figure out this new life.  Lots of love from all of us here at The Tank.

STUDIO INFORMATION
The Tank is a comfortable and affordable recording studio located 50 minutes outside of Seattle in the foothills of the Cascades. Projects range from tracking, overdubbing, remote recording and mixing entire full length music projects, EP’s, and Film/Post Production work including 5.1 Surround Sound.

I created this studio as a place musicians could come to record their music with quality equipment and precision engineers. To view some of my past and present clients and links to some of the studios recent work visit the Artists Page.

The Tank uses Pro Tools HD with 24-bit Cranesong external AD/DA conversion. For an additional fee, a 2-inch analog tape machine can be brought in.

The live room is 800 sq ft (14 ft ceiling) with adjustable acoustic properties (.8 sec reverb time is the average). The isolation booth is 125 sq ft with a ceiling height of 12 ft. The control room is very tight sounding at 25 ft x 20 ft with an expansion peak and 13 ft ceiling height.

The green room is not only a great place to relax between takes, but is also available for 24 hour lockouts as a place to stay. It has a shower, kitchenette, beds and wireless internet. If you’re interested in staying overnight here during your session, let us know and we can discuss rates.
